I spend my time between Springfield MO and La Quinta CA. My first year here was in 1993 but my first full season was in 2006. I’ve been hiking ever since. I’ve only been a member of CVHC for a few years but I am so happy I joined. I spent the formative years hiking all across the area with like minded friends who showed me the way. I am forever indebted. I love adventures of any kind and often joke about all of my “new best friends“ I make along the way. My husband and I enjoy boating and we sure have some stories to tell.

BEAR CREEK OASIS TRAIL, LA QUINTA COVE

This out and back hike on the Bear Ceek Oasis trail leads to an oasis high above the La Quinta Cove. The trail is relatively flat in the first few miles, then steadily gains in elevation to the oasis. The route offers  spectacular panoramic views — on a clear day, you can see the entire Coachella Valley, from Palm Springs to the Salton Sea.

The route has no shade until the oasis. Bring plenty of water and wear sun protection (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses).  If it is going to be hot this hike might change to starting at 7am.

Meet at the Bear Creek Oasis Trailhead, near the west end of Calle Tecate, the intersection of Calle Tecate and Avenida Juarez. (Note: there are two parking lots for the La Quinta Cove. We meet at the smaller parking lot. The larger parking lot, at the east end of  Calle Tecate, has a kiosk style restroom.)

Please email Jamie to request participation in the hike and include your phone number.
