RAINBOW ROCKS VIA CANYON VIEW TRAIL AND PCT, WHITEWATER PRESERVE – FULL
*** This hike is full. We hope you consider other hikes on the calendar. ***
The hike begins in the Whitewater Preserve and follows the Canyon View Trail to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). We soon get great views of the entire Whitewater wash and surrounding hills and should see a fair amount of desert flowers in bloom at the upper elevations. We continue northbound, down the PCT, back to the valley floor where we take a lesser-used trail up to Rainbow Rocks, our turnaround point. From here, we head back down the trail, then northbound on the PCT for a short distance. We return to the Whitewater Preserve ranger station and our cars.
We meet at the Ranger Station in the Whitewater Preserve, 9160 Whitewater Canyon Rd, Whitewater. Gates open at 8:00 AM. We’ll meet up at 8:15 and start hiking at 8:30.
Distance: 8.5 miles
Pace: Medium
