COACHELLA VALLEY NATURE PRESERVE
Let’s explore the Coachella Valley Nature Preserve, home to the rare Coachella Valley fringe-toed lizard! This is a true desert hike, so best done in cooler weather. For this loop hike, we will first climb up and hike along Bee Rock Mesa, then descend and hike to three palm oases (Pushwalla, Horseshoe and Hidden) formed by the presence of the San Andreas Fault.
Approx. 8 miles, Moderate difficulty, moderate pace (~2mph). Elevation gain of 500-1000 ft.
Please email Diane Petrilla if you would like to participate, and include information about your hiking experience.
We will meet at the Pushwalla Palms Trailhead (NOT Willis Palms or the Visitor Center) which is 2 miles north on Thousand Palms Canyon Rd. from Washington St, on the right, at 8am. Hike size limit: 10.
