HORSETHIEF CREEK

The Horsethief Creek Trail  is the first part of the route to Cactus Spring. We’ll do an out-and-back hike, initially descending in an easterly direction. We’ll see an abandoned dolomite mine, hopefully some wildflowers, beautiful manzanita and be rewarded at the turn-around point with shade in the cottonwoods along the creek.

Arrive at the Cactus Spring trailhead parking lot in enough time to be ready to hike by 8:30 AM. The trailhead parking lot is adjacent to the Pinyon Pines Transfer station in Mountain Center.

Note: There is very little shade along the route and the return portion of the hike is uphill.
