MISSION CREEK TO WHITEWATER OVERLOOK
Hike through desert brush then canyon to the junction of the PCT and turn south on the PCT. From there we’ll hike to a bluff overlooking the White River and Whitewater Canyon. The trail is in great shape and there is water running but a small bridge has been put in place so it’s quite passable.
This trail may have been taken by Willie Boy and his girlfriend Carlotta as they tried to get away from Banning….more on that story at our lunch break.
This is an out-and-back hike with a lunch break at or near the turnaround viewpoint depending on wind. Hikers will meet at 9:00 am at the parking lot at the gated entrance which is locked so we’ll get the gate code in advance. Once all hikers have arrived, we’ll open the gate and drive another mile on a gravel road to a second parking lot from where we’ll begin the hike. Restrooms and picnic tables are available at a camping area located at the second parking lot.
Approx 5.5 Miles with Elevation gain of 400 ft.
