Gerry retired from his advertising agency career at age 55 and hasn’t looked back. His top priorities: staying active and staying outdoors. In addition to hiking, he and wife Joyce enjoy concerts in the park, patio dining with friends, gardening, and frequent road trips (ideally with the convertible top down). The Kleckners hail from Minnesota but spend half the year at their home in Rancho Mirage.
GABBY HAYES AND HOPALONG CASSIDY
The Gabby Hayes trail begins in Cahuilla Hills Park in south Palm Desert. It immediately climbs to a ridge with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and Palm Desert. The trail then meanders through the foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains and eventually joins the Hopalong Cassidy trail which loops back towards the Homestead Trailhead and the parking lot.
Anyone who is in good physical condition and able to walk at a moderate pace for 2 hours (with some hills) should enjoy this hike.
We’ll meet at 8:20AM in the parking lot on the wash side of Desert Cities Baptist Church (45825 Edgehill Dr, Palm Desert, 92260)
