I spend my time between Springfield MO and La Quinta CA. My first year here was in 1993 but my first full season was in 2006. I’ve been hiking ever since. I’ve only been a member of CVHC for a few years but I am so happy I joined. I spent the formative years hiking all across the area with like minded friends who showed me the way. I am forever indebted. I love adventures of any kind and often joke about all of my “new best friends“ I make along the way. My husband and I enjoy boating and we sure have some stories to tell.

MURRAY PEAK FROM VONS
By far, Murray Peak from Vons, is one of my favorite hard hikes. Trust me, you’ll forget about the pain. Since there are so many different ways to hike up to Murray Peak, we will go as a cohesive group up to the top. We’ll take a break at the picnic tables and enjoy the 360-degree view from the top.
It’s around 3.25 miles up with approximately 2000’ elevation gain. Total distance of 6.5 miles.
We’ll meet on the dirt road that leads to a gate east of the Vons Rimrock Center, 4733 E Palm Canyon Dr, Palm Springs. See below for photos of the gate on the dirt road.
Depending on the level of hikers and how long we stay at the top this hike will take 3.5 to 4 hours.
Distance: 6.5 miles
Pace: Fast
