Twin Palms Neighborhood Walk in Palm Springs

An undisputed mecca of mid-century modern architecture, Twin Palms is what it is today because of William Krisel the architect and The Alexander Construction Company.   Often referred to as the first truly modern neighborhood in Palm Springs. Twin Palms is William Krisel’s interpretation of the mid-century modern aesthetic. With their iconic butterfly roofs, clerestory windows, exposed concrete block, open carports, and breezeways, these homes are the hallmarks of Desert Modernism. In fact, the architectural design styles introduced in this neighborhood have forever changed the look of Palm Springs.  In addition to the 90 designed Krisel homes are 30 homes from other architects including a Donald Wexler designed home, the Lost in Space house, and one affectionally referred to as the Brady Bunch meets Studio 54.

The Twin Palms walk will be led by Scott Wigren. Scott is a docent with the Palm Springs Historical Society.  He lives in the Twin Palms neighborhood and developed the tour.

Meet at 1005 E. Apache Road, Palm Springs.

2 hour, easy walk.

The walk will be offered if we have at least 8 sign-ups and will be limited to a maximum of 25 participants.  Fee to participate is $20. Pay Shirl Donahue with cash or Venmo.
