Mardi and Marc enjoy hiking in the coastal rain forests near their home on the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia but since retiring in 2013 they now happily spend winters exploring by foot the desert and surrounding mountains of the Coachella Valley. They also love to visit France where they have done a number of long distance hiking excursions in recent years. An avid outrigger canoe paddler, Marc is always in search of interesting places to paddle---a challenge in the desert!
SAWTOOTH LOOP TRAIL
Located in the beautiful Pioneertown Mountains Preserve, the Sawtooth Loop Trail is accessed from the Sawtooth Mountains Trailhead. As the trail heads into the Sawtooth Mountains, it features steep ascent and descent throughout, seasonal water crossings, and various rocky sections. Footing is slippery in spots and sandy in others.
We will meet at the Sawtooth Mountains Trailhead at 8:30 am.
Distance: 8 miles
Elevation Gain: 866 feet
Pace: 2 -2.5 miles per hour (moderate)
Group size: 10 hikers maximum
