PUSHAWALLA PALMS LOOP
Our trail starts out on a sandy plateau above the San Andreas Fault and then passes by the long Horseshoe Palms oasis. We’ll then descend through a slot canyon to the beautiful Pushawalla Palms oasis with its running surface water. The final leg of our hike goes up a steep hill to the ridge of an uplifted earthquake fault with stunning 360 degree views of the Coachella Valley.
Anyone who is in good physical condition and able to walk at a moderate pace for 3 hours, with some hills, should enjoy this hike. Meet at the Pushawalla Palms Trailhead in the small parking area by the map kiosk on Thousand Palms Canyon Drive, about one-quarter mile before the Coachella Preserve parking lot. The kiosk location is clearly shown on the map below if you zoom in several times.
6 miles with 800 feet elevation gain; medium pace.
