HIDDEN PALMS LOOP
After a short climb to a lookout with a panoramic view of the Thousand Palms area, we’ll cross a sandy plateau and eventually discover the large Hidden Palms oasis. The return loop through broad washes takes us to a dude ranch with a display of antique equipment.
Anyone in good physical condition and able to walk for 2 – 3 hours should enjoy this hike. We’re meeting at the Pushawalla Palms Trailhead, shown on the map below if you zoom in several times. To reach the trailhead, go north over Highway 10 on Ramon or Washington and turn at Thousand Palms Canyon Drive. Pass by a small parking lot on your left. The next parking lot on the right is the one you’re looking for. It has a small kiosk that has a map showing the Pushawalla and Hidden Palms trails.
4.5 miles, 300 feet elevation gain, medium pace
