HENDERSON-SHANNON TRAILS – PALM SPRINGS
Join us on this scenic, out-and-back hike from Palm Springs. The hike is only 3 miles long but it accumulates 750’ of elevation gain. It begins on the Earl Henderson Trailhead at the junction with the Garstin Trail and travels above the wash, gradually climbing. We’ll then take the Shannon Trail to travel farther and higher. There are several brief, steep, rough pitches at the start and at the turnaround, where we have an eye-level view of the Bob Hope house and a view of San Gorgonio Peak in the distance.
To reach the trailhead, from S Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs, turn left on Bogert Trail (paved street) and continue across the bridge for a total of 0.8 miles. Then turn left onto the block-long Barona Road residential street. Park on the street. The trailhead is inconspicuous, located a little past the last house on your right while facing the barricade at the end of the street.
3.0 miles with 750 feet elevation gain.
