TRAILGATE HIKE AND AFTER PARTY

Trailgate has become a wonderful annual tradition that started with the Desert Trails Club and is now organized by the Coachella Valley Hiking Club. Participants select their hike from the following options: Art Smith to 2nd Oasis- 8:00 am, Art Smith to 1st Oasis – 8:45 am, Carizzo Canyon – 9:30 am, and Dead Indian Canyon at 9:30 am. Andrew Walls will lead a new hike this year – Dead Indian Canyon up through the old trail to the Art Smith – this will start at 8:45am.

This will be the final opportunity to hike Carizzo Canyon and Dead Indian Canyons until October 1, 2026. There will be big horn sheep sightings most likely but we never know on which trail.

A catered lunch will be available after the hikes. Club will provide water; anything else is BYOB. And bring a chair.

Note the start time of the hike you want to do and arrive 15 minutes before. Park at the Main Art Smith (big) Parking Lot.
