FERN CANYON
This is an out-and-back hike in the Indian Canyons of Palm Springs.
Although somewhat remote, Fern Canyon Trail is by some considered a hidden jewel of the desert—especially if we’ve had recent rain. There’s an uphill start along cactus-lined rocky ridges, some soft sandy sections and then we’ll come to an oasis with palms, maiden hair ferns and other water-loving plants.
Enter the Indian Canyons at 38520 S. Palm Canyon Dr., Palm Springs. There is a $7 admission charge for seniors.
We’ll meet up around 8:20AM at the Indian Canyon Trading Post. Go though the toll gate, drive 3 miles south (veer left at the Y at mile 1) and the Trading Post is at the very end of the road.
