Carole and Tim Atkinson are seasonal residents in wonderful Palm Desert. They spend the summer months in Calgary, Alberta where hiking the Rocky Mountains is a favorite activity. They are a retired geophysicist and geologist ……..and eager to expand their knowledge of flora and fauna in the desert. They’ve been leading hikes for over 20 years. When not exploring trails, they can be found golfing, biking, playing pickleball and enjoying the local music scene.
CAHUILLA HILLS PARK LOOP
Join Tim and Carole for an easy, 2 mile loop from Cahuilla Hills Park in Palm Desert. This scenic loop combines sections of iconic trails: Gabby Hayes, Hop Along Cassidy and Herb Jeffries. The loop follows rolling terrain to provide great views of the Coachella Valley.
The trails are named for Hollywood actors and movie characters. Herb Jeffries Trail is named for the legendary “Bronze Buckaroo,” an African American film star from the classic Western movies.
While this hike is rated as “easy,” please note that there is loose rock on the downhill sections requiring good balance and footing to comfortably negotiate.
