Philip founded the CVHC in 1992 and formalized the group as a hiking club in 1993. He has led over 450 hikes for the club. Philip also has authored the #1 all-time best selling Regional book "140 Great Hikes in and Near Palm Springs," as well as "Colorado State Parks: A Complete Recreation Guide" and "Hiking! The Ultimate Natural Prescription for Health & Wellness." President of "Transformation Seminars" since 1981, Philip is available for slide shows and seminars. He winters in Palm Desert & summers near Boulder, Colorado. Hikes for fun, adventure, scenic beauty, and geologically interesting areas are his specialty. “BIG SPLIT ROCK” SLOT CANYON

This hike gets 5-stars for geological drama. WOW! Adventure into the largest slot canyon in Southern California. See colorful rock formations. We’ll actually be inside the San Andreas Fault! Visit this beautiful, fascinating area with the founder of the Coachella Valley Hiking Club and the author of “140 Great Hikes in and near Palm Springs.” 
 
Easy, flat, and spectacular describe this hike. No poles or walking sticks needed but hiking through a very narrow slot canyon could challenge claustrophobic individuals. There are also small climbs up rock chutes and perhaps over boulders, too. Great photography hike! Be sure to bring extra water and sun protection. Gloves may be helpful.
 
The group will meet at 8:00am.
