Charles winters in Palm Desert with his wife Dianne. Enjoyment of the desert weather has brought them back to the desert many times over the last 40 years. Their summer home is in New Hampshire, where he hikes with the Green Mountain Club. He enjoys hiking and pool time here and there with our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.

ARABY TRAIL WITH EXTENDED LOOP

This moderate hike offers great views of the valley.

The Araby Trail could be dubbed the “trail to the stars,” as it climbs above the Bob Hope Estate and home of the late Steve McQueen. The view of these magnificent homes is readily available on this trail, along with that of Palm Springs. The Araby Trail is another great short but sweet “exercise” trail, allowing you to make the up-and-back trip in under 6 miles.

Most of the gain is in the first hour as we go up Araby past the former Bob Hope house. We’ll travel up the goat trails over to the base of Wild Horse trail then loop back and down the Araby.

We will meet up at the Araby Trailhead on Hwy 111 at 8:00 AM.

5.6 miles with elevation gain of 1,200 feet.
