I am a Kansas City native and moved here in 2011. I joined the hiking club and fell in love with our mountains. The CVHC has made such a difference in my life. Leading hikes allows me to meet so many people and share the joy of a day spent outdoors. Between the San Jacinto, Joshua Tree, our valley, Idyllwild, and Mecca there is a lot to discover in the Palm Springs area. If not on the trail, I am most likely cooking or playing canasta or mahjong.

ART SMITH TRAILHEAD TO HOPALONG CASSIDY, SCHEY THEN BACK TO ART SMITH

A popular “in-town” hike that is a loop starting at the Art Smith Trailhead off of HWY 74. The trail takes you high above Big Horn’s massive homes and continues until civilization is out of sight.  What remains to be seen are mountains, cacti, trail and often times Big Horn Sheep. In Spring if there has been some rain, the landscape will be lush with wild flowers.  The desert at it’s very best!

7 Miles with elevation gain of 2000 ft.
