Art Smith Trailhead – Dead Indian – Art Smith – Hopalong Cassidy, then back to Art Smith

This is a slight twist on a popular “in-town” hike. This is a lollipop loop that usually starts by going up Art Smith from the Art Smith Trailhead off of HWY 74. To mix things up a bit, we will start by going into Dead Indian Canyon and then take the old Art Smith trail north (this is an unmaintained trail) up to Art Smith. We will then proceed past the oases on Art Smith , take a cross country route down to Hopalong Cassidy, turn right and head back to Art Smith and the parking lot.  The trail gives you great views down on Big Horn’s massive homes and and across all of the valley.  What remains to be seen are mountains, cacti, trail and often times Big Horn Sheep.

This is a fast hike on a mix of maintained and unmaintained trails. Expect bad footing, loose rocks and some exposure (ie- hill on one side, abyss on the other).

7 Miles with elevation gain of 2000 ft, no shuttle required. Expected duration: 3-4 hours

Hikers limited to six (6). One spot left!!!
