LOST HORSE MINE LOOP
Historical hike to one of the largest gold mines and stamp mills in the park. This hike is a loop that passes by other small mining operations, many Joshua trees, interesting geological features and some of the best scenery in the park, including expansive views of the desert floor and surrounding mountains. The trail has some long, easy stretches (though sandy in this dry season) as well as some moderately challenging ascents and descents with rubble underfoot.
7 Miles with Elevation Gain of 1000 ft.
Meeting place: We will meet in Joshua Tree NP, at the Hemingway turnout, which is located on the right (west) side of Park Blvd, 7.7 miles beyond the West Entrance booth. We will caravan or carpool from there to the trailhead.
Meeting time: 8:30 am
Group size limited to 10 hikers
