I am a Kansas City native and moved here in 2011. I joined the hiking club and fell in love with our mountains. The CVHC has made such a difference in my life. Leading hikes allows me to meet so many people and share the joy of a day spent outdoors. Between the San Jacinto, Joshua Tree, our valley, Idyllwild, and Mecca there is a lot to discover in the Palm Springs area. If not on the trail, I am most likely cooking or playing canasta or mahjong.
THOMAS MOUNTAIN FROM THE ROMONA TRAILHEAD
A beautiful trail to the top of Thomas Mountain. It switchbacks up through Manzanita and Ribbonwood trees. Great views along the way. After 3 miles arrive at Tool Box Springs where a dirt road joins the trail and we continue to the top! It’s a little early in the season for this hike but thought we could give it a go. It will be chilly so bring layers. Tops out at 6800 ft.
We will carpool to go to trailhead. We will meet at St Margaret’s church then drive up hwy 74 to the Ramona trailhead. It’s takes about 30 minutes.
12 Miles with Elevation gain of 2,300 ft.
