SKYLINE 1/4 WAY TO THE TRAM

From the trailhead at the end Ramon Road, we will follow the N Lykken up a steep pitch, continue on the meandering trail to near the picnic tables, and then intersect the epic Skyline trail for a taste of what the journey is like to the Tram. Skyline can be accessed from the Museum Trail but for this hike, we will take the more southern N Lykken Trail.

Skyline is one of the hardest trails in the valley with steep pitches that will send your heart rate soaring. It is rugged with many steep “step ups/step downs”. We don’t stop for sit-down rest breaks but will pause on the flat spots to collect the group and continue on. There will be great views of the valley along the way but the emphasis will be on keeping it moving.

Because of the steepness of this route and the irregularities in the trail surface, poles are recommended, especially for anyone with knee issues. Our pace will be moderate but steady.

6 Miles with Elevation gain of 2000 ft.

We’ll start from the North Lykken Trailhead, located at the western terminus of West Ramon Road. Please arrive at the trailhead and be ready to go at 7:30 AM.
