Christy winters in the desert and spends the rest of each year at home near Denver or traveling. She leads mostly moderate paced hikes, often including stops for talking about local history. Christy plays golf with wild inconsistency, and refuses to let the game spoil the walk. In her past life she was a Sacramento land use attorney.

Moderate Hike

Carrizo Canyon

This is a lovely stroll in a deep canyon near the National Monument Visitor Center on Hwy 74.  Access is closed each year on January 1 for a few months to give peace to Big Horn Sheep moms who give birth early each calendar year.  So hike this now before the annual closure!  The walk is out and back with sweeping valley views at the turn-around point.  After the hike consider exploring on your own the National Monument Visitor center and its short onsite  nature walks.

3 miles with elevation gain of 415 feet
